2012 Queen Candidates
Our Many Thanks, to the 2012 Queen Candidates
Each year the Parade Committee selects one queen candidate to be a special representative in the pageantry of the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Each of the other candidates also participates in the parade as the Queen's Court. Choosing only one of these young ladies is a difficult task and in no way diminishes the efforts of any of the others or the pride that all we feel in their achievements. Committee members vote for the Queen based upon efforts in obtaining charitable contributions, assisting with the parade activities, and overall personality. This is a very challenging volunteer position and it requires interminable dedication. We were very lucky to find especially hard working young ladies to assist the parade committee. What these ladies have accomplished this year is at the very least remarkable. We cannot thank them enough for their commitment to the committee, the community, and our causes.
During the evening of Sunday, March 11th, the Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee crowned its 2012 St. Patrick’s Day Queen. Cassie will ride in the pageantry of the Parade on March 17th, 1PM beginning at South Park in Downtown Lawrence. The annual Queen Coronation took place at the Flamingo club with a traditional Irish dinner being served, corned beef and cabbage, boiled potatoes and more. Attendees included this year’s Grand Marshal Mike Rebich, the 2012 Sr. King and Queen Dwayne and Ruby Peaslee, Committee members, families and friends. All were entertained by the Irish-Dixieland sound of Junkyard Jazz.
A very special thank you to all of the 2012 Queen Candidates. Thank you, for your participation and your dedication! It couldn't have happen without you.
Congratulations to Cassie the 2012 Queen!
